Our story
Our relationship with the Western Ghats goes back a long way. We had been living two lives, one in the big noisy city of Bangalore and the other exploring the rainforests of the Ghats. After many years of searching for a little place that we can call home, we chanced upon this lovely piece of land that has been nurtured with great care.
The plantation has been practicing ecologically sound agriculture for over 25 years. The land has a attractive combination of different types of habitats. The wet evergreen belt, that has coffee growing in the shade of native trees, a wet swampy marshland that has a small perennial stream flowing on the edge and an open hillside where there is tea growing along with small pockets of stunted forest.
What really drew us to the place, was the spectacular ancient Champaka tree, that has stood witness for many centuries to the drastically changing world. The age of this magnificent tree could be anywhere between 800 to 1500 years old.
